Leader's Guide to Root Cause Analysis -- Using Data to Solve Problems
by Paul. G. Preuss
|
|
Review (from Forward), by Victoria Bernhardt |
| We need this book!
With the No Child Left Behind Act, and with more schools and
school districts getting into data analysis work each year, we are hearing
educators wanting to learn how to determine "root causes" and how to perform
"root cause analyses." Until now, there was no education-related book
dedicated to the topic.
I am pleased to introduce the premier education book on the
topic of root cause analysis -- School Leaders Guide to Root Cause
Analysis. Dr. Preuss has done a fabulous job of showing us many
examples from many different perspectives. The examples will ring
familiar and be helpful to school board members, district and school
administrators, teachers, and students. The Guide is easy to use,
practical, based on real schools, and makes sense out of complicated events.
Dr, Preuss states in this text, "too often we do not discuss
and reflect on our practices." With this guide, educators everywhere
will learn how to reflect on proactive positive results, as well as the
reactive negative results. The Guide summarizes the theory and process
of root cause analysis, while sharing learning's from real examples.
The Guide, through Dr. Preuss' expertise, shows us how to solve the
deep-rooted problems that perplex our educational systems and that keep us
from getting the results we want. With the help of The Guide,
educators can learn how to solve the real challenges of ensuring every
child's learning, as opposed to solving the most obvious symptoms and seeing
the same results year after year.
Dr. Preuss draws on his vast educational experience at all
levels of education, his insights from working with all educational levels,
and the knowledge he gained from some of the world's greatest systems
thinkers to deliver his powerful message.
School Leaders Guide to Root Cause Analysis is
designed to assist all who seek to improve learning for students through
identifying and dissolving causes for student learning failure. I
invite you to enjoy this treasure, and join me in commending Dr. Preuss for
his tremendous contribution to education.
